Can olive oil be used instead of vegetable oil?

    Olives Oils in Healthy Nutrition

    It will give it a strange taste, I’ve done it and it does not work. Olive Oil is definitely not for baking!

    Olive oil is not suitable for baking sweets…..Breads yes….Olive oil will give cakes an off taste….use butter

    olive oil is better for savory dishes and it will probably ruin you cake if you dont have vegtable oil i would recamend using margerine or butter it has the same fats but better for baking!

    it would taste very weird ….. Better to use Crisco … or softened butter (but not as much as the recipe calls for oil)

    By all means go ahead and use olive oil. Oil instead of butter gives a slightly moister cake (better keeping qualities). Extra light has very little flavour so can easily be used instead of vegetable oil, and it will be a little healthier. I only have extra virgin olive oil in the house and use it for absolutely everything. I even use it instead of butter in many cake, brownie, waffle/pancake etc recipes. Just reduce the number of grams of butter by about 10% and use that number in ml, for example one stick of butter is about 110g so use 100ml olive oil.

    OLIVE OIL WILL NOT WORK IN CAKE AND COOKIE RECIPES; I SUBSTITUTE MELTED BUTTER OR MARGARINE FOR THE VEGETABLE OIL AND I ADD ONE EXTRA EGG TO MY MEASURING CUP BEFORE I MEAURE THE WATER. IT GIVES THE CAKE A BETTER TEXTURE.
