Are there Vegan substitutes for Turkey and Salmon?

drowsylily asked:

Turkey and Salmon are the only two kinds of meat I eat, mainly for their health benefits and for the convenience. Walnuts and olive oil can give the omega 3s, but I am worried about the fat content . Are there any vegan dishes that can give the same benefits as a turkey sandwich or a baked salmon?

I want to remove all meat from my diet.

    All About Olives Oils

I’ve heard of Tofurkey but I’ve never actually seen any, and I doubt that I would buy it if I did see it. There are plenty of “mock meats” available, but I’m sure several of them are not particularly “healthy” – probably too much salt and other additives. I’ve seen a lot of mock fish, some of which looks almost identical to real fish – even a mock lobster (I suddenly feel like singing – weird that!). It’s a big industry in Southeast Asia, creating products like that. Let’s face it – real fish probably won’t exist by 2050, due to overfishing.

There are many vegan dishes that probably fit the bill – high in protein, low in saturated fat, good sources of mono-unsaturated fats, and with the added benefit of zero cholesterol – I assume that’s what you’re looking for. My advice would be to get yourself a good vegan cookbook or two.
